No. Same-day installation applies to standard straight stairways when the model is in stock. Curved stairlifts cannot be done in a day because the rail is manufactured to your specific staircase after it is measured. The phone survey is where we work this out, so you know before anyone drives out.

We ask about your staircase — straight or with a turn, roughly how many steps, how wide, whether a door opens at the bottom — and about who will be using the lift. Those answers also tell us whether you need any options, such as a folding rail or a power swivel seat, so they go into the quote rather than appearing later. It takes a few minutes, and you come away with a preliminary price and an answer on whether a same-day install is possible. We hate surprises, and you likely do too.

On a standard rail with no added options, no. The quoted price is the price. Options are the thing that moves a stairlift quote, and we identify those on the phone — a folding rail where the bottom of the stairs would otherwise block a doorway, or a power swivel seat at the top landing — so they are priced in from the start rather than added once someone is in your house. The site survey confirms the quote; it is not a second chance to reprice it.

Two visits. We measure the staircase, the rail is manufactured to those measurements, and we return to install it. Lead time depends on the manufacturer's queue, and we give you a date once the order is placed rather than an estimate before it.

Our most popular straight stairlift, the Bruno Elan, is $5,495 installed. Curved stairlifts cost more because the rail is custom-manufactured to your exact staircase, and they cannot be priced accurately without measuring the stairs.

No. Medicare's durable medical equipment reference list denies stairway elevators, treating them as convenience items rather than primarily medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans, long-term care policies, VA benefits and state waiver programs do help, and they vary a great deal — it is worth asking your specific plan rather than assuming either way.

The rail fastens to the stair treads, not to the wall, so there is no structural work and no wall repair. If the lift is removed later, what remains is a set of screw holes in the treads.

Usually. The seat and footrest fold up when the lift is parked, so the stairs stay walkable for everyone else in the house. Very narrow stairs and a door swinging at the bottom are the two things worth looking at in person — both are normally solvable, but they change which model we recommend.

Yes. Modern stairlifts run on rechargeable batteries that charge at the parking points, so the lift keeps working through an outage — worth knowing in Michigan, where winter storms take the power out regularly.

All major components of the Bruno stairlift — motor, gearbox, drivetrain and static rail system — are warranted against defects in material and workmanship for the lifetime of the stairlift, for as long as the original purchaser owns it. On top of that, we cover the first year of service on any Bruno manufacturing defect at no charge.

We install throughout Michigan's Lower Peninsula, from our base in Traverse City. We do not currently serve the Upper Peninsula. Travel distance can affect whether a same-day install is practical, so mention where you are when you call.
