Transfer Shower Base: Superior Accessibility and Comfort

Transfer shower bases are designed to support safe wheelchair-to-shower transfers in accessible bathrooms. Unlike roll-in showers that allow a wheelchair to enter the bathing area, transfer showers are built so the user can move from a wheelchair onto a fixed seat inside the shower.

According to the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design, an ADA transfer shower must provide a minimum 36" × 36" interior clear floor space, allowing room for a user to transfer safely from a wheelchair to a shower seat. These showers typically include a low or zero-threshold entry (maximum ½"), a properly sloped shower floor for drainage, and reinforced walls for grab bar installation.
